It has been quite some time since I made it here to update just how the progress is going. Which to be quite honest has not been intentional. However at the same time I have not really been putting any direct effort into the project either. I just wanted to take a little time to explain why and maybe through this update understand better myself and when I may get back regular updates.

Where Exactly Am I
Right at this moment the project is still generating a little bit of income. In the form of interest on the money in the bank account. This only really amounts to a few dollars a month. This currently places the total for the project atthe moment at $852.95. This is an increase of $28.90 since my last update, which was in March this year. This places me pretty well into Step 15, with just under $150 to go until I actually achieve this step.

However at this point all of the income into the project is entirely 100% passive, I have to do nothing to gain this except leave the money int he bank account that it is in. This however is not really the best way to get to $1 million dollars, although it will work eventually, it is going to take an awfully long time.

Why Nothing Happening
To be totally honest, the project at this point is not generating enough interest for me. While the whole concept is very interesting, and I like the idea of what the project does teach you and what you may be able to learn through the project. I just cannot build the excitement for it.

A lot of the things that I have done for this project over the past couple of years have not really been pre meditated for the project. They just sort of happened and I did just attribute them to the project. The different things that I have specifically done for the project have generally not had the success that I was hoping for. Things like website advertising while it has made pennies here and there, it has not actually paid out anything to credit to the project.

There are probably other things that I could attribute to the project over time as well, however for some reason it just doesnt seem interesting to do so. Where I might gain $2 here or $3 there to me it just doesnt make sense to track such small amounts and actually transfer the money around to keep it correct in the right account. I guess to some degree this is ignoring one of the key parts of the project, being happy with the small bits and pieces before graduating to the big things. I just feel that while this may be the case, it does not actually improve any ones understanding of anything.

Future Efforts
Irrelevant of what I have said though I am not entirely giving up on the project. It will still be something that is here ticking over, even if that is just a few dollars a month from Interest credits in the bank. Direct future efforts for the project will be created if and when I feel that it is something worth doing for the project.

I will continue doing anything that I would ordinarily do and at some point may choose to discuss it here and if it does generate money will add it to the tally here. I do really want things to work out for this however I do also want to ensure that what I am shareing is actually worth your while reading about.

Open To Suggestions
As I am sort of lost at the moment in the thought of how or when I will continue with the project I am open to some ideas if anyone wants to share anything to help me get the motivation back. Or even if anyone has any ideas on what could be causing the loss of interest in the project. Actually it would be even better if anyone else who is under taking a similar project and who had experienced a similar situation along the way would like to share how they overcame this stage.

Wow, i had not realized just how long it had been since I updated the project here. It has been almost 8 months in fact if i worked it out correctly. Really it is nothing more then just being a little lazy that I have not updated, because there have been some things going on that have added to my tally for the project.

Since my last update where my tally was at $536.45. I have grown this to $824.05, which is quite substantial considering where I am at. Unfortunately I cannot be very specific in what has contributed as when i have transferred the money to my account for this project i put really descriptive terms like stuff as the comment. So at this point all I know is where some of it come from.

• Bank Interest – This come in at just under $20 since the last update. While I am aware of the fact that bank interest is not the best way in the world to make money due to the low rates and inflation combined it is still a valid way. And adding almost $20 without even having to touch anything is not bad at all.
• Some of you may remember quite a while back I mentioned buying some things to sell on consignment in a shop, well over Christmas that money came through, all in all about $200. This was kind of less then I expected but that is what i got above the cost of the goods. So not a bad little investment, except that it just took a little longer then expected to come through.
• Still while not specifically recording it, I know that I made quite a number of finds, lots of 5 cent coins and a few other silver coins. Also every so often a $1 or $2 coin turns up as well. Probably all in all less then $10 but it is becoming a smaller and smaller part of my project.
• One other little side project that I make the odd sale on is domain names, I have a reseller account but you have to do the registrations manually, so it is really only for people i know or work with. However it just became a little more profitable with a drop in the wholesale price, so I added about $18 with a sale in February.

I have also added a new website to my group of sites. All up it cost me $2 to setup, buying a .info domain name, and making use of the hosting account that I already have. The site is www.stevepavlinapodcast.info and it is a site that will eventually contain transcripts for all the podcasts which were created by Steve Pavlina. To date still to record first income, however for a site that I have only had online for a little over a month it is getting reasonable number of visitors. In the near future I will be adding another site, however not sure on any of the details of this at the moment, so will need to get back to you this.

Anyway Even though I have not been keeping the blog up to date I just wanted to let you know that I am still keeping the project going, and You can keep watching for more updates in the near future. Currently on Step 14 I will be working to get things over the Step 15 mark very soon, just $175 or so to go, which will have me sitting at the $1000 mark.

Well as October is coming near the end, i thought it about time i do a little more of an update on what is happening for this project. It seems that even though i am only adding little bits here and there that this project is picking up a little bit of pace. For a number of reasons. The first i actually feel it is more continual growth now, as even though it is a small amount i am making something every month with interest at the bank. Secondly I am also seemingly finding or adding little bits more often.

In my last update i came across a find of some stamps, and a 5 cent coin which in total gave me $5 for the project. Well since then I have had a number of finds. The best find was actually by sheer chance, it was a $5 note, and i could not even see it. Just by chance i picked up this docket i saw on the ground and wrapped inside the docket was a $5 note. This was a good find and actually the second $5 since i started the project. Additionally other smaller finds have include a 10 cent coin at the checkout, and 4 x 5 cent coins. Which is not a bad number of finds.

So for the month this totals to about $10.30 added to the project $162.10 which is not to bad.

In more unfortunate news for the project however I am still a little behind on the other things i have hoped to be making some money on for the project. This like affiliate programs are not working as quickly as i had hoped. However i still do have some ideas to build this project up my sleeve, one of which i will announce to you in early November. So keep an eye out and i think it will be something that we can all benefit from.

Well if you have been reading for some time you may be aware that i have been making quite a few finds of 5 cent coins. For the moment this is still happening, i found another 5 cent coin the other day.

But then yesterday i made another find, a book of stamps with 9 still in it. At 55cents each that is $4.95 worth of stamps. Because i do not have any thoughts on how to use these in the project, i am going to put the money in and use them for other purposes, and put the money in that i would have normally spent on them.

As of yesterday i also made a goal that i want to achieve before the end of the year. This goal is still to be entirely defined, but the basic idea is that, i have realized i have a lot of junk around at home, and i want to get rid of as much of the stuff that i don’t use often if at all, before the end of the year. I will be looking to put any proceeds from this into the project, especially stuff that i have not used in a long time.

Finally at the moment i am spending some time getting all my primary websites, in order with new theme’s which will i hope be the last theme changes for at least 18 months to 2 years. I am making use of paid theme’s now, and hope to make good choices for the three sites that i going to initially make the theme changes. In making these theme changes i will be looking to hopefully better monetize, the sites, and so you may see a few changes with ads around some of my sites. Although i don’t want to make them to intrusive.

It seems that the longer i am working on this project the more i relise how little i am actually doing towards it. While i know that nothing is achieved through inaction, it seems that this is almost the path i am taking, hoping that something is going to come from not really doing anything to make it happen.

While as you may have seen from a number of different times i have posted, it would appear that somethings are done on purpose. When in actual fact most of the big gains that i have had, are more of a right place at the right time sort of thing. Where as the things that i have really done on purpose, are more so resulting in little if any actual return for the project.

These include things such as the websites that i have been working on, which has grown a little, however still the traffic and actual revenue from advertising is still fairly low, if anything at all. Maybe though i should consider taking my own advice and Add a Product to Generate Revenue. Which is the plan for at least a couple of sites includeing, www.bizcycle.com.au, www.besocial.com.au, and www.nofixedoffice.com. However even for all these three it is still working out just what product and getting it together.

In addition to these sites the other sites that i run are more so looking at the advertising side of revenue as such. Some of which i still need to make the time to implement while others i need to maybe look at changing around a little as they just do not seem to be working in the layout or the type of ads that are there. So that could really be a bit of a project for this weekend. So maybe will share and look for some opinions in the next few days on what i find to get done.

I have finally managed to find a bank account that i can put the money from this project into and actually earn a decent percentage rate of interest on it. For the time being i had it in an account that did not actually give me any interest unless i had over $5,000 in the account, which considering i am sitting around $120 and it is growing slowly would have been a long wait to get interest. Anyway it seems another bank that i have an account with actually does an account without a minimum deposit.

So i am going to get the money from one account to the other in the next day or two transferring it and all just takes time to do online. But i should have it in there within a day or two and start earning. The initial interest rate which i will get will be 2% per annum. Which while not great will be more then sufficient to at least provide a little extra for the project. However as we all know compound interest has some power, and the more money that ends up building in the project the more interest will play a part in this.

As a side note, hopeing to start getting some more money into the project as i start looking to clear some of the junk i have at home. So many things that i have bought and just accumulated over the years, and ready to start getting rid of it. May be small change from most of it however will keep working on it, and maybe over time even add a few hundred, dollars or more.

Finally the day has come, the online rewards program that i am a member of has come through. It was about a month and a half ago that i got enough points on the system to request a reward and i did. The reward was $30 cheque. Which i will be getting in the bank soon.

It took quite a long time to accrue the points but in reality very little effort, a minute or two here or there every so often. I probably could have done it quicker if i was diligent and visited the site every day. However such is the way things are.

With this $30 reward, it brings me up to a total of $126.50 in the project. Just $1.50 off completing Step 12 ($64 – $128). I do not see it taking long to achieve that little bit. Then however is when the real work is going to have to begin. As the next step is 13 ($128-$256) this is not going to be a simple task of money found and interest earned will get me there, i mean it could but it will likely take quite some time to do. So i am going to have to double my efforts on other things to create the income i am going to need for this step and future steps.

Well, work has been getting to me a bit more so in the time factor. Changing times and such and trying to adjust sleep patterns back and forth takes a good deal of time and energy away. I am not sure if it would be much different if it would be much different if i was on the same shift all the time, but i can fell the changes more so.

Even though there are a few things that are working and building for me. While my websites did have a small drop off in traffic last month they actually generated a fairly small amount of ad revenue, but possibly the most to date. Even though it was generated i wont be counting it in the project until i actually get the cheque and bank it. As i figure there is no point counting something you do not have and cannot really use as yet.

Additionally while i have reached the level for payout on one online rewards program i still have not actually got the cheque sent out. Partially because there was an option to get it directly paid to the bank, but trying to work out how to do this and if it gives you more or not? Something i am looking into still, but this will add $30 once i get it sorted.

When i was shopping today i found a book in the car park, looks close to new, and i think it normally sells for $10, so will probably put that onto Ebay and see if i can get a dollar or two for it.

Finally i am awaiting a payment from a supplier for a rebate that i never even knew i should be expecting, however i get it anyway. So it is going to go into the project, and will add a little over $35.00, I cannot remember the exact amount but will check and when it comes through add it to the total.

The $1,000 day goal is still something i am to achieve. The closest i have come so far is about $250 in one day, from a website that i created however, it was one that had to go through my business, and not be included here.

So the current position of the project is sitting at $56.70 on step #11. With any luck i should be able to move past this step and onto step 12 within the week. Though will keep you updated.

Unfortunately they are not paying a lot though. Averaging maybe 11cents a day at the moment, which means maybe sometime in about 24 months i may get a payout from adsense, maybe a little longer for Commission Junction. This will be impacted a little as i have decided to discontinue ads on one of my sites for the time being. However it was a site that had yet to actually contribute any clicks.

Anyway, it seems this is still most likely the best returning part of this project at the moment. Which is kind of sad as there should be many other potential streams that are contributing to this project.

I am going to be looking at more ways to potentilly generate some income for this project, and even though it is something that i say quite often i am at some point actually going to get to it and make an effort, it is just finding the right thing to focus my efforts on.
