Something new i have been trying

I have started trying something new on some of my sites to try and generate a little more revenue for the project here. One is advertising that pays for people taking an action. Pay Per Action i guess is what it is to me, but people using it to advertise with will know it better as Cost Per Action or CPA marketing.

I hope that it will end up paying off a little better then the Pay per Click ads, as they are doing fairly poorly at this point. They are barely even worth having on most of the sites, however that i am hoping is a temporary thing, until i get some more visitors.

In other news, i have a web project that will be paying off soon, as it gets close to completion. So should actually push me at least one or maybe even two steps in one go, as it is a project that is not part of my normal business. So it is going to fall into this project.

Anyway just a bit of an update, i thought i should share. Also looking to redo the site here soon, just have to find a suitable theme that i can make work with how i want the site to look and feel.

Just a Update

Well i found another 5 cents on the ground. This is something that i could get bored of soon, but as long as i am finding something i am happy be it a 5cent or any other coin or note. Something is better then nothing.

Also adsense is starting to pay a little more me, it is still averaging just a few cents a day, but i am testing some font and other colour changes to see just how they affect CTR. If they do. Additionally i have been looking for some other potential ad networks, and have on at least two of my blogs started displaying fairly prominent display advertising through Commission Junction.

At the moment the main challenge, with building income through my sites is getting enough visitor’s to the sites to get reasonable ad impressions and the flow on click through. It would be nice to see a decent spike in traffic before the end of the month and be able to sustain a new level of traffic, however still something i am working on and looking at potential ways to handle.

Another advantage in looking to build revenue on my sites with things like adsense and commission junction is that the income is in US dollars which at the moment converts back very well to Australian dollars. Which for example would mean a $100 US payout from Adsense would convert to somewhere between $140 and $160 Australian, even with conversation fees back still would give decent conversion.

Trying Adsense for Domains

I have decided to give a new idea a little try to see how it goes. I noticed recently that Google offers an option called Adsense for domains. Which once i got it set up i found basically means it puts a fairly plain looking page on the domain that is basically made for adsense, and has a search option in their as well.

The domain that i choose to try it with was one that i was getting a small amount of traffic, but the site there i had pretty much stopped working on. So i figured what could it hurt to try. It seems to be showing some impressions, most days, and i am happy to have a great potential to earn even a little money if it does happen.

Anyway something i just wanted to mention so that others may be able to try it if they are lost for ideas on what to do with thier own domains. Would be interested to hear anyone elses feedback on the option in Adsense as well.

Great new post on No Fixed Office

Just wanted to share with you all a post that i have made on my other blog “No Fixed Office”. It is actually the first post in a series about getting a business started with no fixed office. Which in reality links in very well with this project, as it is focused on saving the big expenses of having an office and staff and such.

The first post in the series, is titled “Creating a business with No Fixed Office” and discusses the founding of the idea of creating a business with No Fixed Office, in the following posts, creating a web based business is going to be discussed with a few different options, and i will be sure to update you about each of the posts as they become available.

For many people the perception of a business is such that there is a range of requirements that are often needed. Many of these requirements they believe are there to make the business successful, are often the same things that make the business a failure, depending of course upon how they are used.

So be sure to check it out and feel free to comment either here or on the No Fixed office site about what i am talking about in the post.

Big update

Wow, i have not done a status update on how the project is going for a little to long. I even forgot to update when i achieved step ten. So now finally giving an update at Step 11.

So it has been just 1 week between achieving step 10 and now achieving step 11. to achieve step 10 i did a little computer work for a friend, replaced their power supply, and that got me about $25. I also found another 5 cent piece on the floor in the car park. It would have to put me at almost $1 in 5 cent pieces i have found for the project so far.

Then today to nudge me over Step 11, i made a little money selling a domain with my new reseller account which added another $10.05 in. This at the moment brings me into a total of $56.70 in the project, which i am quite happy with.  As it was only in January that i went over $10, and now only 2 months later going over $50. Got some more income for a website i am doing coming soon, and also maybe a couple of other things that might add some income here. So we will have to see.

In other news, i have been playing more with adding content related advertising on some of my other sites, at this point no hard and fast results, but we will see how it goes. Plus working on building content for one or two of the sites, to try and get some better ranking in Google. Also i come across this program for the internet to run $7 sales to sell you products. You can check it out here 7 Dollar Secrets.

Anyway that about sums up what is going on, about the only other thing is if you are on twitter feel free to follow me @no_fixed_office and also check out the great series about getting started with a business for No Fixed Office coming soon at the blog.

Business Ideas: Local errands

In many area’s the cost of couriers is getting higher and higher, and while businesses don’t have the time to do deliveries or run some of their errands themselves they are forced to pay the high price of couriers to take something a relatively short distance.

Especially if you live or spend a lot of time in a busy area with a lot of businesses around there is bound to be more then a couple that need to get documents to another business or a few samples, or boxes to businesses that are not that far away but would take to much time out of their day to do so. This is where you can come in, with a better price then a courier and get it done more often then not in less time.

There are some business that would probably use this type of service more then others, firms that need to get documents to other places often, lawyers, real estate agents, and such that may need to get contracts back and forth. Also auto repairers, for smaller parts and many companies that may sell goods to a lot of businesses may find that it is economic to send long distance but to get something 1 or 2 km is very little difference in price. So a service like this will save money.

The key here is to price yourself so that you can make a good return on your time invested but not be an expensive option. So some market research is a good start. looking at what is being charged by couriers, and seeing what the potential need for your service may be.

Business Idea: Sell T-Shirts

Almost a default option for people in promotions is the sale of T-Shirts, with a logo or a band or whatever is being promoted on the front and or back. However another catchy trend is creating shirt’s with gimmicky pictures, phrases, or comment’s on.

Coming up with something original is the largest issue here, as there is such a large market it can become difficult getting something that is new and different and that people want. However once you do have something it can become quite popular if it is in a small niche, or it is something that people have not seen before.

One of the best options is to link it in with something else, for example, some online options i have seen is people will have an online comic and then create shirts in relation to different characters. Or in the same strain shirts based on funny quips by characters. Other interesting options have been quirky changes of common phrases slightly.

The most profitable way to do this is trying to create the most demand as soon as possible to support printing larger runs of shirts. Because the more you have to pay to get a shirt printed the more you need to charge or the less you make. Where as if you can print 50 or 100 at a time, you can save a good amount on each one and either sell at a lower price or make a higher profit. This all needs to be taken into account to what you would like to make in comparision to what the market will pay. So at the end of the day some trial and error may be involved. But as long as you know you cost, and it is not to high you should be able to make the sales.
