Business Ideas: Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a way of generating income selling a product for someone else, and getting paid a commission of sorts for doing so. For a more detailed explanation you can find one on Wikipedia.

There are a range of different ways that you can marketing products as an affiliate, for the most range and options you are best to join a network such as Commission Junction or Clickbank. Both of these sites allow you to join with a large range of different companies promoting all sorts of different products. All have multiple different link options from plain text through to banners.

Some companies offer their own program through their own methods. Companies like Amazon are a good example, but there is also a large range of smaller individuals who offer affiliate programs directly through their own sites.

The main thing that you need to get started is your own website and the ability to modify the look to add banners, and links as you see fit. The best way to make this most relevant is to add affiliate advertising which is relevant to your site content. For example if you have a website that is about the internet and creating a website, then affiliates such as domain sales, and web hosting may be relevant. If you have a site about current fashions and accessories then, affiliates that sell clothing, jewelery or makeup may be more the thing you want to look at.

The earning potential for affiliate marketing really is unlimted. The more visitors that you have to your site the more likely you will make money, however the futher removed from the topic of your site the less chance those visitors will be interested. So it does take a little research but can be a good stream of income.

Business Idea: Car Washing

Many people don’t like to wash their car, and while there are automatic car washes, and services that you can go to get your car washed, they do have their failings. They all require some effort, or do not give the best results.

So the alternative is what you can offer. A car wash service that comes to their home, and washes and drys the car. There are many avenues which you can do down with this idea, depending on what level you want to take it to. You can get started very easily just doing a wash and dry which will keep what you need down to just four things, car wash liquid, a bucket, a sponge, and a Chamois. And really from here you can just keep going adding different services and equipment as you need or like.

Some of the other services you could add may include

  • Vacuum the interior,
  • Interior window wash
  • Tyre Black
  • Interior Leather conditioning.

Really the skyes the limit. However the more services that you offer, the more you are going to begin getting to the level of competing with professional mobile washers. Oh yes, i forgot to mention this is not a new idea there are plenty of people that do it, however for the most part they are set up to do everything and for the most part just a standard wash and dry is below the normal level of service they provide and often have to price themselves out of this market, which is what leaves it open for you.

Expected Start Up Costs – From $30 (for $30 you should be able to get the 4 basic items mentioned however this is just a starting point)

Expected Earnings – $15 – $20 per customer. This of course depends on what if any competition you have and what the local market will allow. Once you have had some practice you should be able to do a quality job washing a car in about 30 minutes, on something like an SUV which may take a little longer add a few dollars more.

Business Ideas coming…

As it may be fairly apparent the act of finding coins and gaining small bits of money here and there is not really something that is going to move your doubling efforts forward overly quickly. In fact at the pace that i am setting right now, i would literally have to live to be hundreds of years old before i actually achieve the final step in this project.

So it becomes obvious that something needs to be changed in what you do towards the project to achieve these different results. What you do for the first few steps will not work for the last few steps, the same as what you do for steps 9-14 may work for the early steps but not for the latter steps. For these steps in the middle i believe it comes down to something more then finding money, but you are not quite to the stage where investing is possible. So you need an idea to kick start a business which you can use to contribute to the project.

Starting a business is often a lot easier then you think, and really is a matter of just a few steps.

  1. Pick your business idea
  2. Register to operate a business with the local government
  3. Actually do something (give out fliers, go door to door) anything to start the business moving.

While step 2 is a fixed process which is different to every area (i am sure there is someone you know that can give you direction here), and step 3 is entirely up to you getting out of your chair and doing something. It is step 1 that often gets most people down, not because they don’t have enough idea’s, but because they cannot settle on one idea.

While having the idea’s is not often a problem i am going to try and make it a little easier for you by sharing some of the idea’s that i have had and do always seem to get. Not to try and make it more confusing for you, but more so you can see that not all idea’s are crazy and other people are having similar idea’s, so rather then sitting around wondering if your idea will work you can see other people think that it is a good idea as well and you may just get inspired to make the move and get that idea rolling.

So over the coming weeks i am going to be sharing 2 or 3 ideas a week and what i hope to do is give you an idea of what your costs might be to get started and also what your potential income may be. Also if i can think of any specific positives or negatives for a particular idea i will share those as well. So please keep your eyes on the blog and i will be adding some hopefully great ideas to get you started soon.

Income Ideas: Private Label Rights

Like Resell rights, private label rights offer you the potential to take a product that is not yours and sell it and keep all the profit. The primary difference is that you can label the product as your own creation and modify it as you see fit.

Modifying the product will be relatively easy if it is a text based product, however audio and video products leave less room for modification, while it is possible the continuity of it will be not as great. Additionally with video especially it is kind of hard to hide the fact a different person is doing it unless you always have videos from the same author.

The primary benefit of private label rights though is that you can take an average product, extend on it and create a new product which you can sell for a high price. Or you can take a few products package them and again sell for a better price. Also combining products on a similar topic such as a short book (100 pages), with an Audio or Video Course, can expand your opportunities greatly.

One thing about private label rights though is that often they will cost you more, this is for two reasons. One the author is giving up the right to have their name on the product, and the second is that often distribution is to a more limited number of people, because the number of times that people see the same product with a different name on is going to only allow for limited opportunity.

Finished on another site

I have just finished getting a holder page almost done for Coffee Locator. Have some ideas for setting up a page where people can vot eon the best coffee shops and also just listing good local coffee shops so that people can easily find them when they want to go somewhere good. Hope it works out not to bad.  Anyway when it is really up and going i will let you know and you can check it out. In the mean time please feel free to let me know what you think of the holer page.

Income Ideas: Create a Blog

While this may be an idea that you have previously had, or may even be something that you are doing as part of your project just like i am here. Making money from your blog may not be something that you are fully considered. You may have seen others that have been talking about the money that they have made from their blog and wondered just how you go about doing this.

Well the good news is that there are multiple ways that you can go about making money from your blog. The different ways can greatly vary depending upon just what you want to achieve from your blog. Your basic option is always advertising, however there are some other ways that you can earn either money or free products from your blog. The biggest consideration is that some may require fairly high level’s of traffic to benefit you much.

CPC ADVERTISING

Often the easiest to setup is cost per click advertising. This is advertising where you get paid only when someone clicks on the ad. This can provide some income as long as the ad units are well placed, which greatly depends on the layout of your site. Also as long as the ads that get displayed are really relevant to your content, as the keywords that are matching often are created by the person putting the ad online they sometimes are not a perfect match.

CPC advertising is something that you can add to your blog no matter how many visitor’s youa re getting per month, however the more visitors you have the more chance you will make some money from this avenue.

AFFILIATE MARKETING

This is similar to CPC advertising however, you only get paid based on actual sales, from people that have clicked through from your site to the sellers site. The biggest advantage from affiliate marketing though is that you get to choose the products that you are promoting. So the ability to target a product to your market is generally much better. Also affiliate marketing allows for you to better include editorial commentary about the product that you are promoting. Done properly affiliate marketing should provide much better return’s then CPC advertising, however it is worth using both in conjunction.

PRODUCT REVIEWS

Once your blog gets a little more popular, there are many opportunities available to review different products or sites, that people will pay you either money or in a free product to review it and link to them on your blog. Probably the biggest down fall for this method is that you need to be fairly well know and have a fairly good visitor count for your blog. Without visitor’s or a good presence online you are not going to be able to prove the value to people wanting product review’s done, to pay you to them.

WRAPPING UP

A blog can provide you with some good opportunities to make money, however there is a time investment needed. Initially the amount of time invested will far outweight that of the potential income. However if you work it right then you have a good potential to make some good money for your doubling project, or any other income goals you may have.

Income Ideas: Market Stall

Almost every weekend somewhere nearby you will find that there is at least one lot of markets. Some of them are Art and Craft, some a mixture of everything, while others are trash and treasure. They may be once a week or once a month, but they all provide opportunity for the smart doubler.

While this idea alone could easily encompass many other idea’s as a lead up to this, it is still an idea of it’s own. Albeit one that may take a little while to be able to participate in, as if you are following the rules specifically you would not be able to bring in anything that you already own and would additionally only be able to buy the items to sell with money from your project.

This should not be a stopper for you though as an idea to use once you have a small amount of money built up. Or in putting in some time to help others, by selling their items at a small commission.

ART AND CRAFT MARKETS

Maybe you have a hobby that you make jewelery, or you enjoy knitting or some sort of wood work. All of these can often be found at the art and craft markets and many people want to try and find that something that is a little different to give as a gift. Just find a local market and take a walk around and you will find that there are many options that you can pursue, and undertake to make some money for your project.

GENERAL MARKETS

There are some markets that do not limit what you can sell, in these type of markets you will find a mix of everything, plants for the garden, arts and crafts trash and treasure, and any number of other different things. These type of markets provide the most scope to choose something to sell that you have a interest in and hopefully will find people visiting these markets that will also have an interest in what you are offering.

TRASH AND TREASURE

These markets often are also seen as car boot sales or any number of other things that are often put on by charities to raise a little money by selling a spot for you to setup. The general type of items that get sold is something that is second hand and not wanted any more, but may be something wanted by another. This does not mean you have to start clearing out all your stuff there are many people that could not be bothered participating in this type of even but just want to get rid of the stuff so much they will give it away to you to sell, or ask just a small amount for it.

WHAT YOU MAY NEED

Most markets don’t provide anything but the space in the fee you pay for having the stall, so there may be some things that you need to bring along. Tressel tables are a good way to display your goods, also a chair for sitting on. Unless you are fairly sure of getting a good shady spot you may also want to bring an umbrella or a portable gazbo to put up for cover. For small fees some market organizers will rent you these items on the day, but if you already have them you may as well bring your own.

FINAL WORDS

Depending on your product and where the markets you attend are, there is some potential to make some good seed money here for much bigger and great projects within your doubling project. I wouldn’t expect to make it to a million dollars just on this idea, but don’t discount the ideas that can add some solid working capital to your project.

First domain work for new sites

Today i spent a fair bit of time working on a holder page for the first of the 7 new domain names that i mentioned recently. In reality maybe i am thinking it would not have taken a lot of extra time to just go and create a proper site for the domain. Which i may just decide to do randomly soon anyway. That is why i bought the domains so that i would have them their when i got the motivation to do something with them.

Anyway I choose the domain http://www.needtoner.info as the first site, and have set up what i hope is going to be a decent holder page for the domain. At this point i am undecided if i want to connect it to my main business site as a website spun from there or if i want to keep for the most part these sites independent. I guess it depends on what direction i decide to take it really.

Well i would appreciate any feedback on this holderpage, am i going in the right direction, should i be doing more or less with the page, anything really.

Income Ideas: Adsense

You have probably more then likely heard of Adsense, or at least seen it in action, whether you know it or not. Basically Adsense is advertising offered by Google which they display beside the search results on Google. Also anyone who owns a website can also add Google Adsense advertisements to their website for additional income.

So this really isn’t a guaranteed do nothing or very little way that you can make money on the internet. To make this work you do need to put in some effort, and actually have a website which does get people visiting it. While having a small number of visitor’s can give a little income if done properly, you often really do need to have a reasonably good number of visitor’s to make this work.

The ads that are displayed are generally based on the content that you have on the page, so it is not always suited to every site, but the more content that you have on the site, the more chance the ads can be fitted in somewhere that will provide some revenue.

Some domains, and websites on the way

Well i got inspired to actually go and find some available domains the other day. The thought i had was that how am i going to actually get any idea’s for sites to create if i don’t know what domains i have to work with. So i noticed that www.GoDaddy.com had a special price of $1.38 AU for .info domains.

With a little thought i was able to come up with 6 domains that i thought i would be able to do something with.

3 were local place names that i might be able to do something local with.

The other three were just some random thoughts on different things that i could do.

While they are not all immediate ideas, at least having the domains is going to get me thinking for relevant ideas, rather then trying to think of a random idea and then find a suitable domain.

Anyway ghope to let you know about some sites that i may be getting started on these in the near future.
