Wanted to let you all know about a great site that i found the other day. Today i have made what is the best find to date for this project of mine. I found a $20 note on the ground. This is quite a step from my previous best which was a $5 note.

While it may be the right thing to do to hand it in, i doubt that this is really an idea that has much logic behind it. If someone is careless enough to lose $20, I believe that they will probably have a hard time actually remembering where they lost it. If they remember this then they would have realized and picked it up at the time. The next point is that if you do hand it in what is to say that the person you hand it into, being a security guard or some business near where you find it will be honest and not just keep it. Even more to say how do you know the person will even go and ask.

So it is my decision it stays in the project now. This brings the project to a total of $234.01. Which is about $22.00 away from completing Step 13. Which i am confident will come fairly quickly.

Well things are really seeming to be taking a turn at getting moving. I Made what i think is a good decision to buy up a bulk lot of items which i mentioned last time. The final price that was agreed on was just under $300.00 (which yes i know is more then i have in the project at the moment, and is breaking the rules a little, however who lets good opportunities pass them by). All up i think it came to something like around 180 pieces however with sets of glasses and such it is closer to 130 individual sale items.

At present all of these items are in a local store on consignment. The best bit that i have found out just yesterday is that a number of pieces have already sold. Probably about 12-15 items, however they are some of the items that were higher priced. I am not adding this money to the project yet, as i have not actually received any of it. So i find out yesterday that these items that have sold will almost entirely cover the cost of buying all the items in the beginning. Which is great news as by my calculations without final prices on everything, there is potentially another $500-$700 worth of items to sell. It will i expect slow down a little now, however i am still quite happy with this.

After this initial success i am unsure if it is a wise move or not to consider going into this sort of buying a lot more, and see what i can manage, either as part of this project or external from it if the money involved in much higher. However it is something that i am seriously considering.

This is on top of the box of other items which has also gone, admittedly these were smaller items and they are not selling so well, as they are not collectible and not really pieces of interest as such. However this is something that i think is part of the learning curve in approaching this.

Another two additions to the project, have come this month as well, $6 i made doing some colour laser printing, and also $45 i got for doing some computer work for a friend. Which printing the project to $214.01 which doesn’t include anything for the items that i have on consignment at the moment. The consignment items are something that i am just going to try and work out with the store once a month more so to try and simplify things a little. So I will update these amounts in the regular monthly update.

So wow this month is turning out to be quite a good month and i can see that into 2010, things are going to get better and i would expect start moving even faster.

Ok, well November as it turns out was not an outstanding month by any means. However there is still a little to report. A find some interest and something that is going to be hopfully adding a bit to the project in the near future.

First up was my find. A 50 cent coin in a drain. I almost kept walking, but shiny things on the ground have always caught my attention and i luckily didn’t leave it behind. From memory this was the only find this month, which is a drop in the number of coins i have been finding, being mostly 5 cent coins though, this single coin has been more then i have been finding in a single find.

The other thing that has become a monthly occurrence is interest at the bank. This month it come to a total of 41 cents, which is a little jump over the previous month i think even thought he amount of money has not changed. It is more a case that interest rates in Australia are rising and have helped the money to earn a higher rate of interest.

Finally a little about something that i have spent a little time putting together this month. I have been able buy at a good price some good items which i am going to put on consignment into a store near by. In total about $100-$400 i am going to spend on these items, and hopefully they will fetch somewhere around $400- $800 or around double the cost. This i know is something that will always be up in the air, and can take some time but with any luck there are some really nice pieces and items which people may like.

Anyway may be able to share some good gains with this last piece of information at the end of December. Along with interest rates which should be a little high again with another increase earlier this week. Along with potential finds, i think this month could be good for finds as there is a lot more people shopping so more people to drop money. However this also counters with more people to find money, but i think that i will have a better chance because i am expecting to find money.

I cannot remember if I did mention or not that I have set myself a challenge to try and get rid of a lot of the things that i do not use any more, as well as the stock that i have not been able to sell from my business. While i had been dragging my feet on this for a little while. A friend got me inspired with some of the stuff that i had sitting around, and while it has not generated any money yet it is in the best place it can be to do so.

While this is not going to make a lot of money in the long term, it will convert some of the stuff that I have had sitting around for anything up to a few years into a little bit of cash that i can put into this project.

The next step that i need to complete for this is to get the 2 or 3 boxes of computer gear, AV gear and cables out of the way. I am considering offering the lot to one of my friends who is now more involved in a similar business at what could only be said is a excellent price, for what is included. Otherwise looking to offer the gear on Ebay. If my friend wants it this will make it a load easier on me, and just get rid of it. Where as i may be able to make more money from it on Ebay but will also involve listing fees and a lot more time on my part.

At the moment i just want to get rid of it, so will have to have a little decision making session later today or tomorrow.

Well as October is coming near the end, i thought it about time i do a little more of an update on what is happening for this project. It seems that even though i am only adding little bits here and there that this project is picking up a little bit of pace. For a number of reasons. The first i actually feel it is more continual growth now, as even though it is a small amount i am making something every month with interest at the bank. Secondly I am also seemingly finding or adding little bits more often.

In my last update i came across a find of some stamps, and a 5 cent coin which in total gave me $5 for the project. Well since then I have had a number of finds. The best find was actually by sheer chance, it was a $5 note, and i could not even see it. Just by chance i picked up this docket i saw on the ground and wrapped inside the docket was a $5 note. This was a good find and actually the second $5 since i started the project. Additionally other smaller finds have include a 10 cent coin at the checkout, and 4 x 5 cent coins. Which is not a bad number of finds.

So for the month this totals to about $10.30 added to the project $162.10 which is not to bad.

In more unfortunate news for the project however I am still a little behind on the other things i have hoped to be making some money on for the project. This like affiliate programs are not working as quickly as i had hoped. However i still do have some ideas to build this project up my sleeve, one of which i will announce to you in early November. So keep an eye out and i think it will be something that we can all benefit from.

Well if you have been reading for some time you may be aware that i have been making quite a few finds of 5 cent coins. For the moment this is still happening, i found another 5 cent coin the other day.

But then yesterday i made another find, a book of stamps with 9 still in it. At 55cents each that is $4.95 worth of stamps. Because i do not have any thoughts on how to use these in the project, i am going to put the money in and use them for other purposes, and put the money in that i would have normally spent on them.

As of yesterday i also made a goal that i want to achieve before the end of the year. This goal is still to be entirely defined, but the basic idea is that, i have realized i have a lot of junk around at home, and i want to get rid of as much of the stuff that i don’t use often if at all, before the end of the year. I will be looking to put any proceeds from this into the project, especially stuff that i have not used in a long time.

Finally at the moment i am spending some time getting all my primary websites, in order with new theme’s which will i hope be the last theme changes for at least 18 months to 2 years. I am making use of paid theme’s now, and hope to make good choices for the three sites that i going to initially make the theme changes. In making these theme changes i will be looking to hopefully better monetize, the sites, and so you may see a few changes with ads around some of my sites. Although i don’t want to make them to intrusive.

For this project i have decided to join a new Affiliate Program that i found. The program is for a Book website called Book Depository. Anyway just a little something that i wanted to share and i hope that you find it to be a successful program, as i hope to find for myself as well.

I have been doing some thinking and believe that monthly updates are a good idea for this project. It at least gives something fixed and sets a pattern. While i will be looking to add additional content through out the month, i think earnings and finds really only need a once a month update.

So September was not great, but above what i have already mentioned in previous posts i gain a total of 24 cents in interest. Which i think is maybe only a little bit but it is sure better then nothing. Over the course of a year it does add up to a few dollars and will only get bigger with more money in the project.

Additionally i made an additional two finds, both 5 cent coins, which adds another 10 cents. Finds are still happening, however i am not sure if it is my mind set or what that is blocking more finds. The biggest issue that i see here is that when i do some odd different things, besides coins that is, i question whether it is worth picking it up. This may translates back to my thinking on finding things of value.

Anyway I still think that i need to do more to try and build my project, and is just something that i will work on i suppose.

It seems that the longer i am working on this project the more i relise how little i am actually doing towards it. While i know that nothing is achieved through inaction, it seems that this is almost the path i am taking, hoping that something is going to come from not really doing anything to make it happen.

While as you may have seen from a number of different times i have posted, it would appear that somethings are done on purpose. When in actual fact most of the big gains that i have had, are more of a right place at the right time sort of thing. Where as the things that i have really done on purpose, are more so resulting in little if any actual return for the project.

These include things such as the websites that i have been working on, which has grown a little, however still the traffic and actual revenue from advertising is still fairly low, if anything at all. Maybe though i should consider taking my own advice and Add a Product to Generate Revenue. Which is the plan for at least a couple of sites includeing, www.bizcycle.com.au, www.besocial.com.au, and www.nofixedoffice.com. However even for all these three it is still working out just what product and getting it together.

In addition to these sites the other sites that i run are more so looking at the advertising side of revenue as such. Some of which i still need to make the time to implement while others i need to maybe look at changing around a little as they just do not seem to be working in the layout or the type of ads that are there. So that could really be a bit of a project for this weekend. So maybe will share and look for some opinions in the next few days on what i find to get done.
